Artifacts to demonstrate ITSE Standard 3:
Artifact 1:
Converting and updating presentations. a. Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations.
As a result of my UWG experience, I have updated my PPTs and other static presentations to more useful Audio/Video format (Screen casts) for student online viewing. Throughout the year students have been able to view short videos and screen casts that I have made to help them learn the content. My classroom lectures are short and sweetened with humor, and I usually screen cast one of the lectures to post online as a video. Here are some lecture-vodcasts that I made while at home, using some very old software from Prentice hall: http://www.sophia.org/tutorials/volcano Also- on this link is an educannon video where I took a youtube video and chopped it up and added interactive elements that heighten student awareness of what they are learning: http://www.educanon.com/public/1586/3745

Artifact 2:
Online Calendar, Remind 101 and signupgenius: c. Communicate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and a variety of digital age media and formats.
Effective communication is of paramount importance to all members of a learning community. Attached are screenshots of my online calendar, Remind 101, and signup genius. Parents really enjoyed participating in my classroom events and the online calendar as well as the Remind101 text messaging service really facilitated communication. I am so thankful for technology!

Reflection
Technology truly has changed the way that people relate to one another and communicate. Even within my own family, we couldn't stay in touch without all of the applications available on smart phones- text messaging is the primary way that we communicate due to our varied schedules and lack of common time at home. Even more so is the reliance on technology with our students as their schedules and individual families are even more varied than our own. As we move forward into the 21st century, we need to encourage our students as well as their families to embrace these communications technologies.
